Paradise Islands in the Andaman Sea
Island hopping in Thailand is a memorable experience for travelers seeking tranquil beaches, turquoise waters and a relaxed sense of island life. Ko Lanta, Ko Hai and Ko Mook are three remarkable Andaman Sea islands off the coasts of Krabi and Trang. Each island has its own rhythm, inviting you to slow down and simply enjoy the moment.
Ko Lanta, the largest of the three, is known for its wide, peaceful beaches and its atmospheric Old Town with wooden houses along the waterfront. From here, your journey continues to Ko Hai, a postcard-perfect island with no roads, no cars and a serene natural setting. Powder-soft sand, leaning palm trees and clear turquoise water define its character. Ko Hai is ideal for gentle coastal walks, quiet afternoons by the sea and snorkeling along its house reef. Your last stop is Ko Mook, the southernmost island, known for long, uncrowded beaches and one of the region’s natural highlights — the Emerald Cave, a hidden lagoon accessible only through a narrow sea tunnel.
Best Time to Visit
The west coast of Thailand follows a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct seasons.
Dry Season (November to April)
This is the most popular period to visit the Andaman Sea. Expect calm seas, clear skies and temperatures between 77°F and 90°F (25–32°C). It is the ideal time for beach days, snorkeling and island exploration.
Transition Months (May to June)
Weather conditions are often stable with plenty of sunshine, occasionally interrupted by short afternoon showers.
Green Season (July to late October)
During this period, the southwest monsoon brings humid air, cloud cover, tropical rain and occasional thunderstorms. Days are shorter and the sea can be rougher, but the islands feel wonderfully quiet and lush.

Days 1–4 | Ko Lanta
After your arrival at Krabi Airport, you will be transferred to your resort on Ko Lanta. The next days are dedicated to complete relaxation on this romantic and spacious island.
Ko Lanta combines long beaches, traditional fishing villages and dense jungle-covered hills. Unlike Thailand’s more famous islands such as Phuket or Ko Samui, Ko Lanta remains pleasantly authentic and never feels crowded. Many viewpoints, laid-back beach cafés and small bays invite you to linger.
The island’s southern tip and fifteen surrounding islets belong to Mu Ko Lanta National Park, an area known for its preserved nature and sweeping sea views.
Days 4–7 | Ko Hai
You will be picked up from your resort and transferred by ferry to Ko Hai. After check-in, the following days are yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Ko Hai — also known as Ko Ngai — is a small, picture-perfect island off the Trang coastline. Despite its size, it offers a remarkable tropical setting. The palm-fringed main beach on the east coast opens to panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and dramatic limestone formations.
Further south, you will find quiet coves, crystal-clear water and an excellent coral reef ideal for snorkeling. The island is entirely car-free and accommodation is limited to a handful of boutique resorts, adding to its peaceful atmosphere. Ko Hai is perfect for travelers wishing to disconnect and enjoy nature in its simplest form.
Days 7–10 | Ko Mook
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to Ko Mook. Check in at your resort, located on one of the island’s most beautiful beaches. The next days are free for you to explore the coastline, visit nearby islands or simply spend time by the sea.
Ko Mook is a calm, charming island with long stretches of soft sand and a distinctly relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy slow mornings, a quiet beach walk or a romantic dinner at a seaside restaurant. Your hotel can arrange snorkeling trips or boat excursions.
Expert Tip:
The highlight of Ko Mook is the famous Emerald Cave — one of the Andaman Sea’s most remarkable natural wonders. To access it, you swim or kayak through a narrow, dark sea tunnel that opens into a hidden lagoon with emerald-green water, encircled by high limestone cliffs and tropical vegetation. Visiting in the early morning creates a magical effect as sunlight reflects into the lagoon. It is an experience that stays with you long after you leave.
On your final day, you will return to Krabi Airport for your onward journey.
