Highlights of the Andaman Sea
The Andaman Sea is home to a stunning island world of crystal-clear waters, coral shelves, and dramatic limestone formations. Your journey begins on Phuket, a destination only discovered by backpackers in the early 1980s. From there it grew into one of the world’s most popular islands. A comfortable ferry ride takes you to the Phi Phi Islands, whose images evoke South Seas dreams. Two limestone massifs rise steeply from the sea—rugged, jungle-covered on one side and lined with coconut palms on the other. They are connected by a narrow land bridge that forms two crescent-shaped white-sand bays.
The journey continues by boat to the enchanting island of Ko Lanta, known for its long beaches and lush tropical rainforest. The final stop near Krabi showcases one of the planet’s most spectacular karst landscapes. Picturesque limestone towers, sea caves and lagoons, and secluded beaches create scenes so unreal that they leave most visitors speechless.
Best Time to Visit
Weather along Thailand’s west coast is shaped by a tropical monsoon climate, resulting in two distinct seasons—the rainy season and the dry season.
The dry season lasts from November to April. This is peak travel season and attracts visitors from around the world seeking to escape the northern winter. Expect ideal beach weather with clear skies, gentle breezes, and pleasant temperatures between 77 and 90°F (25–32°C).
May and June often bring stable conditions, with plenty of sunshine and the occasional afternoon downpour. The rainy season typically runs from July through late October. During this period you may experience heavier rainfall, high humidity, and occasional thunderstorms. Monsoon winds blow in from the southwest, bringing moisture from the Andaman Sea. Overcast skies and shorter days are common during this time.

Days 1–5 | Phuket
Upon arrival at Phuket Airport, you will be transferred to your booked resort.
Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and modern comforts. Its main attractions are the beaches, which come in an impressive variety. Patong’s Bangla Road is known for its nightlife, live music, street food, and a wide selection of bars and clubs.
If you prefer a more peaceful setting, head to the island’s north, where many luxury resorts are located. Our recommendation: Mai Khao Beach, a beautiful, quiet stretch of sand. In the south, don’t miss a sunset trip to Cape Phromthep. Nearby you will also find Nai Harn Beach, one of our favorites.
Cultural highlights include the Big Buddha on Nakkerd Hill – a 45-meter-tall statue visible from many parts of the island – and Wat Chalong, Phuket’s most important temple. Phuket Town is also worth a visit. Colorful Sino-Portuguese buildings line Soi Romanee, and Thalang Road offers many historic colonial-era shop houses.
Expert tip: Drive up to Khao Rang Hill for a panoramic viewpoint and a fantastic restaurant overlooking the town.
Days 5–7 | Phi Phi Islands
You will be picked up at your resort and driven to the pier. The two-hour ferry ride across the Andaman Sea brings you to the beautiful Ton Sai Bay. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed at the pier and accompanied to your hotel. The following days are at your leisure.
You will spend your time in a tropical paradise made up of two islands. Phi Phi Don is the larger, inhabited island with a range of accommodations and a small nightlife scene near the main bay.
Our tip: Rent a traditional longtail boat and visit nearby Phi Phi Leh. This smaller, uninhabited island is famous for its dramatic cliffs, secluded beaches, and – most notably – Maya Bay, where scenes from the Hollywood film “The Beach” were filmed. You can also see how edible swiftlet nests are harvested from the caves.
Days 7–10 | Ko Lanta
From Ton Sai Pier, you continue by ferry directly to Ko Lanta. After arriving at Saladan Pier, you will be transferred to your selected resort. The next days are yours to relax and unwind on this romantic island.
Ko Lanta’s laid-back atmosphere, charming fishing villages, long beaches, and rainforest landscapes make it a true paradise. Compared to well-known islands like Phuket or Ko Samui, Ko Lanta remains more tranquil, with tourism spread over many white-sand bays. Much of the island’s hilly interior is still covered in dense jungle. The southern tip, along with 15 surrounding islands, forms the Mu Ko Lanta National Park.
Days 10–14 | Krabi
Transfer from your Ko Lanta hotel to Krabi and check-in at your resort.
Krabi sits on Thailand’s southwest coast and offers a tropical landscape of spectacular beaches, limestone cliffs, rainforest, and turquoise waters.
One of the region’s highlights is the famous Railay Beach, often ranked among the best beaches in the world. Towering limestone cliffs make it a popular rock-climbing location. Enjoy your remaining days exploring the offshore islands such as Ko Poda or Ko Hong. A short visit to Krabi Town is also worthwhile for a dose of local culture. For active travelers, we recommend a trip to the Tiger Cave Temple. A staircase leads to the mountain summit, where you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view.
On your final day, you will be transferred to Krabi Airport.
