Enchanting Island World – Ko Samet & Ko Chang
Thailand’s spectacular beaches and crystal-clear waters have long made the country a dream destination for beach lovers and island explorers. Among its many islands, Ko Samet and Ko Chang stand out as a harmonious combination for a relaxed and inspiring island-hopping journey. Both lie in the Gulf of Thailand, making them easily accessible from Bangkok, Pattaya and other major cities.
Ko Samet, a small paradise with only seven kilometers in length, is known for its pristine beaches, vibrant evenings and laid-back atmosphere. As part of the Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park, the island’s natural beauty is carefully protected. Visitors can unwind on white sand beaches, swim in turquoise waters or enjoy a variety of water activities throughout the day.
Your journey continues to Ko Chang, Thailand’s second-largest island and a striking contrast to the intimate Ko Samet. Ko Chang is characterized by its impressive coastline, lush rainforests, mountain ranges and cascading waterfalls. It is a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts, with numerous hiking trails and protected areas waiting to be explored.
The Best Time to Visit
The cool season in the northern Gulf of Thailand, from November to February, brings pleasant temperatures between 77°F and 86°F (25–30°C) and clear skies – ideal for relaxed beach days.
The hot season, from March to June, is defined by higher temperatures and humidity. During this time, the islands experience plenty of sunshine and little rainfall, making it an excellent period for sunseekers.
After the hot season, the region transitions into the rainy season from July to October, with occasional thunderstorms and heavier showers. While some travelers shy away from this period, the rainy season has its own charm: the landscape becomes intensely green, refreshed, and beautifully tropical.

Days 1–3 | Ko Samet
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at Bangkok Airport and driven to Ban Phe. From there, you travel by ferry to Ko Samet, followed by a short transfer to your resort. These first days invite you to unwind, settle in and enjoy the relaxed rhythm of island life.
Ko Samet is easy to navigate due to its compact size and is well suited for families. In addition to international guests, many Thai visitors come to the island to enjoy its natural scenery and striking coastline.
Most white-sand beaches are located on the east coast. The best-known is Sai Kaew Beach, offering a variety of water activities as well as beachfront restaurants, cafés and small venues with live music. After sunset, parts of the beach come to life with fire shows and a relaxed, welcoming evening atmosphere.
Further south along the eastern shore, small coves line the coast, becoming quieter and more secluded. The west coast is generally calm and home to several high-quality resorts at Ao Prao Bay.
After spending time on the beaches, the surrounding small islands invite you to explore quiet bays and colorful underwater landscapes.
Days 3–6 | Ko Chang
You return by ferry and continue by car and boat to Ko Chang. Once you arrive, you have several days to relax fully and enjoy the natural setting of this scenic island.
Situated in the Gulf of Thailand and close to the Cambodian border, Ko Chang is a tropical refuge. With its beautiful beaches, dense jungle and diverse marine life, the island offers an ideal escape from the pace of everyday life.
Ko Chang, together with roughly 50 smaller islands, belongs to the Mu Ko Chang National Park. Its beaches range from quiet stretches of white sand to lively bays with small resort clusters and a gentle touch of nightlife.
Beyond its coastline, Ko Chang is home to a rainforest that covers more than 70% of the island. Thanks to this rich ecosystem, wildlife such as exotic birds, monkeys and even elephants inhabit the island. Jungle trekking is popular among visitors and provides access to hidden waterfalls and the island’s impressive flora and fauna.
At the end of your stay, you travel by ferry and private transfer to Trat Airport.
