Day 1 | Jungle Pool & Spectacular Cave

Drive into a lowland rainforest and take a gentle walk to a vast natural pool hidden deep in the jungle. Here you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Afterwards, visit the hot springs, where you can bathe in warm, mineral-rich water. These natural whirlpools maintain a soothing temperature of around 95–104 °F (35–40 °C) and contain rejuvenating minerals that invigorate body and mind.

In the afternoon, continue to a spectacular cave in Trang. You will board a boat and glide through the cave system. At certain points you may step out to explore fascinating stalactites and stalagmites. An underground river will carry you through narrow passages back into daylight — a truly unforgettable experience. Your day concludes with a visit to a rubber plantation. (L)

Day 2 | Cave Temple & Colorful Markets

Trang province is known for its untouched nature and numerous waterfalls. Your route leads through mountain scenery and limestone formations to a beautiful cave temple set deep in the jungle. Afterwards, stop at the vast Thale Noi Lake and enjoy a short walk along the shore in Phattalung.

Arriving in Hat Yai, near the Malaysian border, you can browse the many shops and lively markets. On your way to the Gulf of Thailand, you will drive up a small temple hill offering sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding region. Here you can visit the Four-Faced Buddha Shrine, revered by locals and by Chinese visitors from Malaysia and Singapore. Your final stop is Songkhla, a water-surrounded town on a narrow land tongue. Before checking in at your hotel, visit the long beach and the famous Mermaid Statue — the city’s beloved landmark. (L)

Day 3 | Remote Beaches & Waterfowl Sanctuary

Today you explore Songkhla, once a pirate refuge and now a notable fishing hub. Highlights include Samila Beach, Tangkuan Hill with its panoramic viewpoint, the old city walls, the port area, and Kao Seng Beach, known for its colourful wooden fishing boats.

Cross Thailand’s longest bridges to Ko Yor Island, famous for its seafood restaurants and fishing heritage. The bridges separate the open sea from Thailand’s largest inland lake. Later you continue to the secluded Haad Kaeo Beach. Charming backroads lined with palm trees and rice fields lead you to a shrimp farm, where you can gain insight into local aquaculture.

The Khu Khut Waterfowl Sanctuary, Thailand’s largest bird reserve, hosts numerous exotic species that migrate here to overwinter. Enjoy a boat trip on the lake and climb the watchtower for scenic views.

Following the coastal road past countless shrimp farms, you reach Nakhon Si Thammarat. Here you will visit a local family renowned for performing “Nang Talung,” a traditional shadow-puppet show crafted from water buffalo leather — a performance they have even presented at the royal palace. (L)

Day 4 | Jungle Waterfall in the National Park

Start the day with a visit to Wat Mahathat, one of the most important temples in South Thailand. This impressive complex features a 253-foot (77-meter) high pagoda crowned with a 270-kilogram gold tip.

Khao Luang National Park, still largely unknown among Western travelers, offers dense rainforest and striking mountain scenery. Rivers and waterfalls flow through the park, including the spectacular Prom Lok Waterfall, where water cascades over several tiers into natural pools — an ideal place for a refreshing swim. Continue to Sichon, stopping at pristine, miles-long beaches and a small fishing harbour. (L)

Day 5 | Fish Market & Monkey School

Immerse yourself in local life at Surat Thani’s vibrant fish market. Here you will find everything imaginable: fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, household goods, and the largest seafood section in the south of Thailand. Afterwards, visit a nearby monkey training school, where monkeys learn to climb palm trees and harvest coconuts — a traditional practice known throughout Thailand. You will also see some entertaining demonstrations and learn more about this unique craft.

Afterwards you decide where your journey continues. Options include travelling onward to Ko Samui (transfer to the mainland pier; ferry ticket not included), or heading to Krabi, Phuket, Khao Sok or Khao Lak.
