Day 1 | Arrival in Chiang Mai

You’ll be welcomed at the airport or train station and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

Expert tip: The old city, its markets, and temples are best explored on foot. In the evening, visit the lively Night Bazaar and then relax by the Ping River, where live music fills the air.

Day 2 | A day full of mountain impressions

Your day begins with a drive north toward Mae Taeng. Here you’ll visit Wat Ban Den, a magnificent temple complex famous for its intricate wooden carvings and impressive architecture. A colorful contrast awaits at the Mae Malai farmers’ market, where locals and hill tribe people trade their goods.

The journey continues through breathtaking mountain scenery with several viewpoints. You’ll stop at the Pai Canyon, a dramatic sandstone gorge offering stunning views, and later visit the White Buddha, perched high above the town. After climbing 353 steps, you’ll be rewarded with one of the best panoramic views over the valley.
The evening is perfect for exploring Pai Walking Street, with its night market, cafés, and street food. (L)

Day 3 | Hill tribes and hidden natural wonders

This morning you’ll drive through pristine mountain wilderness to a Lisu village, an ethnic group originally from southwestern China that migrated to Thailand via Myanmar in the 19th century.
Next, explore Tham Lot Cave, a spectacular limestone cavern through which the Nam Lang River flows. Part of the tour takes place on a bamboo raft – a truly unforgettable experience.

Continuing along the winding mountain road, you’ll stop at Lahu villages, whose people trace their roots to the Tibetan plateau. Near Su Tong Pae, you’ll walk across a simple 500-meter bamboo bridge stretching gracefully over rice fields before boarding a boat on the Pai River. The journey ends at a Padaung (Long Neck Karen) village, where you’ll learn about their unique cultural traditions. (L)

Day 4 | The Valley of Mae Hong Son

After breakfast, discover the serene town of Mae Hong Son. A short drive up the hillside leads to a Shan-style temple with panoramic views of the lake, valley, and forested hills near the Myanmar border. Down in town, the twin temples Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang shimmer beautifully beside the lake.

Heading south, you’ll reach the quiet market town of Khun Yuam, where you’ll visit the Shan Culture and War Museum.
The road continues through lush mountain landscapes past Hmong and Karen villages. Short stops along the way give insight into their traditional life.
Tonight’s stay is in Mae Chaem, a peaceful town at the foot of Doi Inthanon. (L)

Day 5 | The Roof of Thailand

Today’s highlight is Doi Inthanon National Park, home to the highest peak in Thailand at 2,565 meters. This area is renowned for its dense forests, cool mountain air, and cascading waterfalls – a paradise for nature lovers.

You’ll visit the twin royal pagodas at 2,100 meters, a Karen mountain village, and a local Hmong roadside market selling fresh vegetables, fruit, and handmade crafts.
A special moment awaits on the Ang Ka Nature Trail, an elevated wooden boardwalk winding through evergreen cloud forest covered in mosses and ferns.
The tour concludes with a scenic drive downhill toward Chom Thong and back to Chiang Mai. (L)

Day 6 | Farewell or Island Extension

After a memorable journey through Northern Thailand, we’ll transfer you to Chiang Mai Airport for your flight back to Bangkok.
Alternatively, return by train (not included) or extend your holiday with a relaxing beach stay on one of Thailand’s tropical islands – we’ll gladly help you plan your perfect ending.
