Day 1 | Floating Markets & Death Railway
After leaving Bangkok, you’ll reach the famous floating markets. A rowing boat takes you along the bustling waterways, where goods are still sold directly from boats—just as they were a hundred years ago.
In the provincial town of Kanchanaburi, you’ll board the legendary “Death Railway.” This adventurous ride follows the River Kwai and crosses old wooden viaducts. At the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, an impressive exhibition documents the harsh conditions faced by prisoners of war who built the railway during World War II.
In the afternoon, a boat will take you to your floating raft hotel, surrounded by lush jungle along the river. (L)
Day 2 | Three Pagodas Pass & Mon Wooden Bridge
A winding road takes you through rolling hills toward the Myanmar border. The landscape alternates between dense jungle and scenic lakes. This is home to a large Mon community—an ethnic group with roots in Myanmar.
Upon arrival in Wang Ka, you’ll visit the Three Pagodas Pass, named after the three small pagodas that have become a symbol of the region. Since ancient times, this pass has served as the main invasion route from Burma into Thailand. During World War II, it gained tragic fame again when the Japanese forced laborers to extend the Death Railway through this area.
A true highlight is the iconic wooden bridge that crosses the Songkalia River—the longest wooden bridge in Thailand. It symbolizes unity between the Mon and Thai communities. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the river and surrounding jungle. (L)
Day 3 | The Ancient Royal Capital
Today’s journey leads through Suphanburi, known as Thailand’s “rice bowl.” Upon arrival in Ayutthaya, the former capital of Siam, you’ll discover ancient temples and palace ruins that still reflect the grandeur of the past.
By the Chao Phraya River lies the fascinating Wat Phanan Choeng temple, home to the highly revered Buddha image Luang Por To. At Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, you’ll see dozens of chedis—some towering over 60 meters high. Founded in 1357 by King U-Thong, the temple once housed monks returning from Ceylon after studying Buddhist teachings.
In the afternoon, you’ll continue toward Khao Yai National Park, where you’ll stay overnight near the park entrance. Before dusk, you can visit one of the area’s bat caves—home to millions of bats that stream out at sunset in a spectacular natural display. (L)
Day 4 | Khao Yai UNESCO National Park
Today you’ll explore Thailand’s oldest national park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A scenic mountain road winds through dense forest to panoramic viewpoints.
Accompanied by an experienced park ranger, you’ll hike along a river trail through the rainforest. The rangers will help you spot interesting plants and wildlife hidden in the thick vegetation. A visit to the beautiful Haew Suwat Waterfall—plunging 65 feet over a rocky cliff—adds to the experience.
You’ll continue to higher elevations of the park, reaching the “Amazing Cliff” viewpoint, situated about 3,900 feet above sea level, offering sweeping views across the mountains. Before exiting through the park’s eastern gate, there’s a brief stop at the visitor center. (L)
Day 5 | The City of Monkeys & Golden Buddha
In the morning, the journey continues to Lopburi—famous for its large monkey population. Hundreds of macaques freely roam the streets and temple ruins, making the city truly unique.
The next stop is Phitsanulok, a riverside town lined with traditional houseboats. Here, you’ll visit Wat Mahathat, home to Phra Buddha Chinnarat—the most beautiful and revered Buddha image in Thailand. You’ll also visit a small workshop specializing in the casting of Buddha statues, where you can observe each step of the creation process.
Tip: In the evening, stroll through the lively night market along the river. (L)
Day 6 | UNESCO Heritage & Bicycle Tour
This morning, you’ll head to the Historical Park of Old Sukhothai—one of the most significant sites in Thai history. Founded in the late 13th century as the first capital of the kingdom, Sukhothai played a vital role in shaping Thai language, art, and culture.
Inside the ancient city walls, the ruins of temples and monuments reveal the splendor of a bygone era. A leisurely bicycle tour through the park allows you to explore the site at your own pace and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Continue to Lampang to visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, one of the oldest temples in Northern Thailand. Built in classic Lanna style and surrounded by high walls, the temple stands on an elevated plateau, exuding timeless grandeur. (L)
Day 7 | Elephant Hospital & Mon Kingdom
Today’s visit takes you to the Thai Elephant Conservation Center and Hospital. Since 1993, it has provided care and shelter for orphaned, sick, and injured elephants.
The journey continues to the charming town of Lamphun, once the capital of the ancient Mon Kingdom. Its most famous landmark is Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, a magnificent temple dating back to the 11th century, featuring intricate carvings and a gleaming 160-foot golden chedi.
In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a gentle walk along shaded paths to the “Golden Rock,” perched atop a small hill. It resembles the more famous Golden Rock in Myanmar and offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside.
The day ends with a memorable drive along the “Old Rubber Tree Road” to Chiang Mai, passing through a grand avenue lined with more than 2,000 ancient rubber trees. (L)
Day 8 | End of the Journey or Island Extension
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Chiang Mai Airport for your flight back to Bangkok. Alternatively, you may choose to return by train (not included in the tour price).
We’ll be happy to help you extend your journey—perhaps with a relaxing beach stay on one of the idyllic islands in Southern Thailand.
